Positive Access in conjunction with a major military systems integrator is participating in a pilot program where the Symbol MC9060 Portable Data Terminal will be used to control access to certain locations. The Symbol MC9060 is a computer based hand-held data capture device with a built in 2-D scanner and a magnetic stripe reader. The device uses the Windows Pocket PC 2003 operating system. Positive Access developed a version of its IDecode driver's license parser to operate with the MC9060 to allow developers to read driver's license bar codes and magnetic stripes in a consistent format. It is expected that this version of the Positive Access parser software will allow for expansion into markets where a personal computer is not appropriate for the customer application.
IDecode Participates in E-Citation Rollout
Starting in early 2005 Positive Access' IDecode product is participating in the Alabama two year pilot project to deploy an electronic citation system for use in the criminal justice and traffic safety communities of the state of Alabama. Officers use a driver's license scanner and a laptop with a printer in the car which facilitates the ticketing process. Positive Access' partner is The CARE Research & Development Laboratory at the University of Alabama.
